The 79 team fell a little short, but they came close and it certainly was an interesting ride. i was at the game wih my dad..i was 14...

one reason it sticks in my mind is..i was later explaining the play to my astro-fan uncle...he was listening to that game on the radio...he said gene elston
stated that JR touched 2nd with his hand.

Astrosdaily has the audio clip of that play called by Gene Elston in which Cedeno hits a line drive to the opposite field down the first base line and J.R.
reaches down and touches second base with his hand on his way to third...he actually scored on that play and the Astros won.
