It's not often I'm watching the Pirates play the Cubs with a lot of interest. Anyway, the game is going to start soon. The Pre-Game show ( The Lead-Off Man ) is going to start in roughly 10 minutes at 1 p.m. The first pitch is going to be at 1:20 p.m. Tom Gorzelanny ( 3-3 with a 5.97 ERA ) is on the mound for the Pirates. Sean Gallagher ( 0-0 with a 6.48 ERA ) is on the mound for the Cubs. I'm expecting a high-scoring game at Wrigley Field today, but I'd like to see the Pirates win. As an Astros fan, I want to see the Astros only 0.5 of a game back of first place when I wake up tomorrow morning. Of course, we'll need the Pirates to win today and we'll need the Astros to win tonight. I expect to see the best effort out of the Cubs and Rangers, and I realize it's not going to be easy. We shall see what happens.

I hope the Pirates win, but the Cubs have been red hot for such a long time. I notice a few Pittsburgh fans are entering Wrigley Field on the WGN telecast. You see quite a few people wearing their Pirates gear. Pittsburgh fans are representing at Wrigley Field! Bob Brenly just said, "I know Cubs fans want to overanalyze things. That's our job!"

He threw Nate McLouth a pitch right down his wheelhouse, but the red-hot McLouth merely hit a deep flyball out to left center field-- caught right on the Ivy. Sean Gallagher also looks a little wild, hitting a batter ( Jason Bay ) already. It's unfortunate the Pirates might not score in the top of the 1st. Nope, they don't score... They stranded a runner on second base, and they hit two deep flyball outs -- Nate McLouth and Adam LaRoche that were caught on the Ivy. It could have easily been a 3-0 Pirates lead with a little wind aid, but it's 0-0. Now watch the Cubs score some runs in the bottom of the 1st. That's the kind of season it has been for the Cubs this year. I just can't believe how red hot they've been. Too predictable. I already knew it was coming. Alfonso Soriano hit a leadoff home run in the bottom of the 1st. The Cubs lead 1-0 already.

They just took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st. Two home runs for the Cubs in the bottom of the 1st -- Soriano and Sota. The Killer S's. Will the Houston Astros be able to slow the Cubs down when they come to Minute Maid Park? This next home stand is going to be huge! I still believe the Pirates will put up a fight today. They certainly put together some good swings in the top of the 1st, but just came up short. This could easily be a 3-3 game in the bottom of the 1st, but it's 3-0 Cubs. It's going to be a high-scoring game I feel.

You know ( Lovable Losers ), they'll always find a way to come up short. But I just can't say that these days ( 2003, 2007 or 2008 ), because the Chicago Cubs are definitely a great ball club and the team to beat.

Cubs lead 6-0 in the bottom of the 2nd. Two home runs for Alfonso Soriano today in as many at-bats, in as many innings... He's on fire right now. I sure hope he cools off before he comes to Minute Maid Park, because he'll hit a couple of Crawford Box home runs at the very least. Lloyd, I'm not working right now. So, "No" to answer your question. I do need to relax more though, otherwise my health won't improve. Okay, this is my final post in this thread. I'll see the Cubs plenty when they come to Minute Maid Park.

Cubs definitely have to be feeling good about their chances against the Astros on their next road trip, but the Astros know they have to score a lot of runs to win anyway. Cubs won again. They beat the Pirates 7-4. Astros need to win tonight to stay 1.5 back. We need to keep aiming for the Cubs. In the process, try to build a lead in the Wild Card race as this season progresses. As long as the Astros keep winning, that's all that matters. Winning the division or wild card, it's all good to me... Just keep winning games!
