Yes. I posted an article in a thread a few weeks ago about steroid use among young teenage baseball prospects in Carribean/Central America countries. The article indicated that prospects as young as age 12 begin taking B-12 injections, and that the prospects become so accustomed to injecting vitamins that it could facilitate injecting steroids as the teenagers became older, with or without their knowledge. Vitamin B-12 shots are a widely accepted supplement for conditioning athletes in those countries. The article also suggested that, by the time the prospects become major league players, they have taken B-12 injections for so long that it is difficult for the players to give up the Vitamin B-12 injections because the players associate the vitamins with their athletic performance. It also raises the problem that the vitamins can be contaminated with steroid residue, if the injectable vitamins were "imported" from a foreign pharmaceutical manufacturer.

As to how the steroid allegations might affect Clemens and the Astros....I don't see how the Astros can "welcome" Miguel Tejada and then reject Clemens, at least based on Mitchell Report allegations, when they are accused of the same thing.

I would need more information before I could reach a conclusion about the effect of Pettitte's admission on McNamee's credibility. First, my recollection is that Pettitte's admission isn't totally consistent with what McNamee said about Pettitte. (I think McNamee claims more injections than Pettitte states.) I don't think Pettitte has said who gave him the injections. The possibility exists that McNamee knows the feds want him to corroborate "something," but doesn't know what the Grimsley affidavit says. He does know about the LA Times' (incorrect) claim and, therefore, perhaps he believes that is the information they want. The fact that Pettitte ends up admitting something could only mean that he guessed right. That is one of the question marks in my mind. Interestingly, the more interesting person to interview might have been Pettitte.
