I mean granted, this isn't where I wanted them to be back in May but given how awful a month June has been... I think we can all live with a 39-43 record for right now.
Now the Astros play a critical four-game series against the Los Angeles Dodgers in Houston, and this is a four-game series that I think the Astros can sweep.
By Thursday night, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Astros holding a 43-43 record with 6 wins in a row. Or I should say by Thursday afternoon, because that game on Thursday is a 1:05 p.m. start time.
So yeah, win 6 games in a row and get to 43-43 ( .500 ) going into that big 9-game road trip at Atlanta, Pittsburgh and Washington...
No doubt the Astros go at least 7-2 during those 9 road games...
I'm thinking about a 50-45 record for the Astros at the All-Star break.
That should put them around 4.5 or 3.5 games out of the wild card lead.
Certainly, I'm feeling more optimistic after the Astros have gone 6-3 in their last 9 games, including a big series win against the defending World Series Champions.
