Here are the numbers on Chad Reineke:

So in Reineke's last seven starts:
He's 2-0, with six quality starts.
Has a 2.13 ERA.
Struckout 38 batters in 38 innings, while walking 12 and allowing only 30 hits for a WHIP of 1.11
Randy Wolf is nearly 6 years older, (almost 32), with chronic injury problems.
While not a high prospect, Reineke was in the top-10 of the Astros miserable minor league system, at #9:

Reineke played well at A ball in 2005 & 2006, AA ball in 2006 & 7, and was improving significantly of late in AAA in 2008 after turning 26 years old.
So, I'm not at all convinced that trading him for Wolf is a good thing...
We seem to be cornering the market on aging mediocrity. I wonder what aging ex-Phillie is next?

This move is truthfully to show themselves "doing something" to stop the hemorraging, and more of a move to contend with the other bottom dwellers in the Central (which the Astros clearly have shown they CAN'T by getting raked by the Pirates). All talk of "improving their playoff chances" is nothing more than crackpipe gossip -- much like 'watercooler gossip', but a lot less intoxicating and addictive.
