Everett's offense (or lack thereof) was pretty much a given before the season started. We all hoped he'd come around, and to a certain extent he has with all the RBI's, but it's no surprise that he's a weak link in the lineup and as Scott stated, he's in the lineup for his defense, and we saw a few times what happens when he's not. Yea, I'd like his avg. and OBP to be higher, but it's not like we expected Everett to hit .270 and drive in 20+ runs, with an OBP of .350 at this stage of the season. He's achieved 1/3rd of that and he's brought his usual great, reliable defense to the table. So, I think we should be somewhat content with his performance so far. I agree with Scott that if the rest of the offense was performing to its ability level, then AE's offense would not be an issue, and in fact we'd probably be praising him for the 20+ RBIs.

OTOH, Mendoza Lane was expected to hit better this season and has proceeded to fall flat on his face more than 2 months into the season. So, I'm not surprised at the talk of obtaining an OFer who can hit and drive in runs. I disagree, however, that we should be looking to trade for an OFer 1st, unless there's a deal out there we shouldn't refuse. I think Luke Scott should be given a shot before a trade is made.
