Not sure if you wer just making a general reference about 2nd baseman, but I think Biggio is having a very solid year defensively and need to be considered slightly above average defensively. The numbers reflect this:

Fielding %: First in the NL
Range Factor: 6th in the NL
Zone Rating: Second in the NL
Double plays: 6th in the NL

I understnad his range is not what it used to be, but I'd sure rather have Bidge's sure hands at second as opposed to somebody like Rickie Weeks who couldnt catch a cold.
