Without any sabermetric smarts, I had a feeling that Ryno was in the same class with Alomar. But the numbers do make things seem somewhat screwy when you are comparing eras -- that old bugaboo again! Do these stats take into account the lousy fields that McPhee and Lajoie played on?

And why isn't Bobby Grich in the Hall of Fame? He was a decent offensive player. Where is Eddie Collins? Was he just all about stealing bases?

Looking at that list, I still think Alomar or Lajoie is the most "complete" player -- good glove and good offense. Many people think Lajoie's offense is over-blown by competing with inferior teams, but he sure looks good on paper!
