I think you are missing the forest for the trees.

Sure there have been cyclical temperature changes exceeding what we have now. But that is irrelevant.

The real question is whether we are raising temperatures outside of what would be normally expected.

What happened one million years ago or even 20,000 years ago is not as important. Human civilization did not exist then and there was no reliance on agriculture.

If we are indeed raising the global temperature, the consequences of climate change could be catastrophic.

We know that CO2 is a greenhouse gas. FACT.
We know that we are artificially raising CO2 levels in the atmosphere. FACT.

We are raising the temperature of the planet. That is not in question. What is in question is what effect it will have and what we can do about it.
