Nation building is not under the responsibility of the United States military. If Iraq is really serious about becoming a democracy with free elections then they'll do it on their own. Once it was determined that there were no WMD's (which I think it was the president's responsibility to protect the welfare of this country), he should have gotten out.

Trying to hold elections in the middle of a war is tantamount to General MacArthur trying to hold elections in Japan in 1943.

There is this idea that we are fighting the "war on terror", considering that we are hunkered down in Iraq and haven't bothered to level the military infrastructure of the other major terrorists nations in the middle east, Syria and Iran, this is not a war on terror. It's a war of attrition and I don't like the idea of our soldiers being used as fodder to play up politics in an area of the world with a stoneage morality and that living under despots as a ruse for theocracy is ok with them.

In the meantime, return Saddam Hussein to the United States and try him for conspiracy to assasinate the President of the United States and lock him up for the remainder of his life.
