I also had a friend that recently committed suicide because of financial problems. He was a farmer in Iowa who was working extra jobs to stay in farming. It was really strange because I had a long chat with him a week before he did it and he didn't seem very down and out. We did talk about his problems but he never said anything about it being that bad. He was a friend and I wish I could have done anything which I would have if I had known how serious the problem was.
Then shortly after that my wife's sisters son died of some kind of heart failure. He was twelve years old and in Brazil and an incredibly talented young man. We were all unbelievably devastated and the pain is still strong. It has been difficult since he was a boy that we would often chat with on the internet as well as the rest of the family. I guess adding that to the election and my own job woes I am in a period that I can only describe as pessimistic. I do not believe much good will come in the coming years. In fact I do not see any good on the horizon.
