Of course, the Astros always play things close to the vest, so I don't know whether rumor central has a beat on what is going on. For the record, the ability to develop and/or acquire corner outfielders shouldn't be difficult even if the Astros have had recent difficulties. Besides, they drafted Lance Berkman and I'd say he panned out well. Wilson also hasn't been bad and has been essentially his old self in terms of overall production since mid May.

The Astros haven't developed corner outfielders because it hasn't been a priority. They also haven't signed many corner outfielders of the Preston Wilson variety. If you only try something once you can't complain about how it never works.
