Actually, I agree that this is likely true. However, we can't overlook the fact that we would get three more years of Tejada. Considering the fact that this club will clear about fifty million dollars between Pettitte, Clemens, and Bagwell we can't underestimate the value of getting a head start on the free agent market.

Yes, surrendering Nieve and Pence seems high for the price of acquiring a player for NEXT year, but consider this question: given the Astros peculiar needs on offense, will there be anyone better? The logic seems convoluted but the Astros would be getting the best of both worlds. First, they would satiate the desire of fans by going for it and they would also make the club more appealing for would be free agents in the off-season.
