One of the things that has to be haunting Purpura is that he had a deal for Miggy this offseason and it included three players that have all had crummy seasons for the Astros. I wonder if he makes another big deal to get the monkey off his back. For many fans, the Huff deal simply proved to them that he had a pulse. Does he make this deal to alleviate some of the pressure on him?

Plus, does Drayton McLane demand another deal knowing that he will unload a lot of money this off-season and that another playoff performance could stem the tide of an attendance fall out after Bagwell officially is gone, Clemens officially retires, and Andy Pettitte officially goes elsewhere or retirement himself? (that may be the longest sentence I've ever written) Anyway, the club has a week to figure things out. Like I said in the off-season, I would lock in a deal and then use the 48 hour window to get Miggy's guarantee that he will not seek a trade.
I'm down with OBP (yeah you know me).
