I am not so sure one hitter wont fix the problem this team has. Last night, having one more bat would have solved a lot of problems. Obviously Tejada will not hit 7th, but just think if someone other than Adam was hitting behind Luke Scott last night. What if Garner didnt feel the need to use Burke in the 3 hole (by the way why he isnt being roasted for having a small pop, good contact hitter hitting 3rd instead of second while Mike Lamb is getting pitched around is ludicrous. I wanted to jump through my TV the other day when we had a man on 2nd and they intentionally walked Mike Lamb to pitch to our 3 hitter. The players aint the only ones who should be yelled at but I digress). What if we could slide Burke up to the 2 hole or drop him down to the 7th hole. A line-up with one more hitter in it becomes pretty fearsome.

2nd: Biggio
1st: Lamb
SS: Tejada
RF: Berkman
3rd: Huff
LF:Wilson
CF: Burke
C: Ausmus
P: Blank

You still have Scott, Willy T and Ensberg to plug in and I think when Ensberg is healthy he will start to mash again. His hitting coincided with his injury.

Our starters have been solid lately (Except Pettitte) and our bullpen has been great lately. Technically we could have won 3 or 4 more games on this past roadtrip with one more hitter and that extra hitter could certainly have helped last night. Tejada went 4-4 with a double and an RBI. I dont know I just think that one more hitter could fix the biggest hole we have.

My biggest fear though is that he might demand a trade at the end of the season but why wouldnt we give the dude the contract extension he wants anyways? Build a team around Berkman, Oswalt, Ensberg and Tejada with Lidge coming out of his funk hopefully. Seems pretty straightforward. If you had to pick right now would you rather have this to build around or swap Tejada with Pence. Considering that A-Rod is a 3rd sacker Tejada is the single best hitting SS in all of baseball. Unless you think Pence will be the best hitting right fielder why not make that deal. Nieve and Adam are throw-aways basically. You replace Adam and Nieve isnt anything mindblowing at leats not as good as the guys in front of him. So it basically becomes Pence for Tejada. I firmly believe Tejada is better and more valuable than Pence. Even if you dont think Tejada is the only thing necessary to fix this team he certainly helps and is a big piece of the puzzle. This trade seems like a no-brainer which is why it probably isnt exactly true as reported.
