I saw Tejada play for several years here in Oakland, so here is my scouting report from what I remember. Keep in mind, things may have changed since he went to the Orioles so stats may not bear this out.

1) VERY competitive, hates to lose, willing to voice his opinion in the clubhouse and to the press. After a crushing loss in game 5 to the BoSox in the 2003 playoffs, Tejada destroyed the A's clubhouse and challenged Derek Lowe to a fight for what he perceived to be showboating after the Sox recorded the final out.

2) He flat out rakes, can hit for power and average, but he has struggled in the post season. He went something like 2 for 22 in that 2003 series.

3) Great range at SS, makes some incredible plays but he's also been known to go through concentration lapses on D where he boots the routine plays.

4) Good speed on the base paths but not a base stealer.
