Everett may or may not end up costing more next year than we pay now. Based upon the Furcal signing (Furcal and Lugo are roughly equivalent), it appears that Lugo may command $10 million/yr. or more in the FA market. I don't know about you, but if the team is going to spend $10 or $11 million to gain offense, I would rather get a more significant impact hitter (i.e., someone who is a legitimate middle of the order hitter). I do think that is the advantage of Tejeda (and obviously the reason a lot of teams would like to have him)...he can be a power hitting RBI producer (ideally, sort of like Jeff Kent at a similar age of 30).
