I saw that yesterday and I thought it was beyond stupid and poorly written. The guy obviously has no idea what he's talking about either. For one thing, Kent's biggest attribute as a fielder is his arm. Biggio never had a great arm and his throwing has deteriorated with age. If either of those two should be at 3B it should be Kent, especially since he did actually used to play that position.
I was thinking the same exact thing last night when I read the piece, especially the part about the comparison of arms between Kent and Biggio, but I didn't have the time or inclination to post last night. Thanks Amy.

IIRC, the knock on Kent has always been his range, not his throwing arm. Kent was a 3rd baseman early in his career, and when Biggio was moved to CF to make room for Kent back in 2003, I distinctly remember wondering why Kent at 3rd wasn't ever mentioned as an option defensively. I remember posting that suggestion on a message board (may not have been this one) and one of the responses I received was that Kent wanted to achieve some record (maybe most HRs) for a 2nd baseman. If that was truly one of the reasons, it's pretty selfish if you ask me and not very smart for the Astros to oblige Kent. I don't recall who would have played CF that season, but Bidge at 2nd and Kent at 3rd was probably a better defensive alignment than Kent at 2nd, Bidge in CF, and a Blum-Ensberg platoon at 3rd.
