I'm not concerned about Lidge coming back to bite us. We face the Braves 6 games a year and, if necessary, a maximum 7 games in the playoffs. That's a potential 13 games (most of which are unlikely to occur any given year) and a closer usually pitches every 2-3 days. That means we'd have to face Lidge a maximum of 6 or 7 innings a year. And if we have the lead before the 9th all of those games then we won't have to face him in a meaningful situation at all.....

I'd put the value of a solid catcher for the next 5 or 6 years, especially one that can hit, over a relief pitcher that has been decent lately but is just as likely to turn back into garbage.
