.500 baseball team.

Flastros, I really feel if the Astros can play .500 baseball at worse until June or July ( All-Star break ), that will help in their attempt to win the National League Central for the first time in six years. As typically ( recent years ), the Astros will heat up and play good baseball during the final few months of the season.

Even if we don't land Roger Clemens ( I also agree with your opinion about him signing with the Yankees but I hope I'm wrong ), we can still make a mid-season trade for a decent-to-good starting pitcher. Someone who is more or less a number 3 starting pitcher.

I think we can all agree that given his older age and likely talent that is on the decline, Woody Williams is nothing more than a number 4 or 5 starter, and we really don't have a legitimate number 2 starting pitcher.

But remember, the 2006 St. Louis Cardinals ( 83 wins ) proved you can win the World Series with only one true ACE, and a collection of number 3 and 4 starting pitchers.

Jason Jennings is still a huge roll of the dice and gamble to me. Can you imagine how awful it will be if he doesn't re-sign with the Houston Astros in this upcoming off-season ? He would have been a one year rental at the price of three young players, in which two of them were talented ...

I'm very disappointed in the fact Jason Jennings is on the DL right now, but I'm even more disappointed in the team's play over the last three games.

We'll see how well the Astros can play at Pittsburgh, against an awful 7-10 Pirates team which swept us in the opening-series of the 2007 MLB season.

Since the Pirates started the season 3-0 after sweeping the Astros, they have gone a mere 4-10 since. That 4-10 record is more Pirate-like baseball.
