The only really bad decision was having Ausmus squeeze with runners on first and third and no out. Even if he does the normal Ausmus and GIDP you still get one run. If he gets a hit or hits a fly ball you are ahead.
Barzilla, you're leaving out the possibility of a strikeout, which would have left the Astros with 1st and 3rd and one out, with the DP still in order. And, BTW, how does a fly ball put the Astros ahead in that scenario. The score was 3-1 with men on 1st and 3rd. If the fly ball was deep enough, it would have only scored 1 (same as a squeeze), but the way the Astros have been hitting, it would have been deep enough to send Burke, but Wilson would have gunned him out at home.

The Cardinals (namely Wainwright and Molina) made 2 outstanding defensive plays on a squeeze bunt, that 99% of the time would have scored the run. It caught the Cards completely off guard and was executed well-enough by the Astros to score the run 99 out of 100 times. I just don't see the problem with the squeeze call. :shrug Only the result made it a bad call. If it had scored the run and advanced Everett to 2nd with 1 out, and then the Astros tied it with another hit, it would have been a great call by Garner. I just don't get how the Cardinals' outstanding defensive play makes Garner's call a bad one.
