With a runner on third, the only intention of the batter is to get the runner home, period. Whether that's accomplished with a hit, groundball, medium to deep fly ball, or bunt is really irrelevant to the run scored. If executed properly, the suicide squeeze is almost indefensible and Ausmus has proven to be very good at executing a bunt in that situation. The decision was sound, the execution was OK (could have been a better bunt), the pitcher just made an extremely good play to spoil the attempt. Arguing against the decision is likely more to do with the result, which is Monday morning quarterbacking at it's best.
