I don't know if Brad Lidge can do it, but I would like to see him as a starting pitcher. Let Lidge and Sampson switch roles, with Lidge becoming the 5th starter and Sampson becoming the set-up man. Or better yet, make Qualls the set-up man with Sampson taking on that 7th inning type of role.

I know it's a crazy idea but Brad Lidge used to be a really good starting pitcher at Notre Dame if I recall correctly.

Of course, he hasn't started a Major League Baseball game since very early in his career.

But as a starting pitcher, it would force Brad Lidge to use at least 4 pitches, and maybe that mixing up his pitch-selection will make it tougher on the hitters to be sitting dead-red on his fastball or slider.

I tell you one thing, Brad Lidge can't do any worse as a starting pitcher as he's been a closer since the 2005 NLCS, which has been well over a year-and-a-half.
