The question Purpura needs to ask himself and answer is whether or not Brad Lidge sorting his baseball self out is more valuable than Brad Lidge the trade commodity.

Unfortunately, Brad's stock is lower now than it was even a week ago.

Brad needs to throw the slider for strikes. He simply isn't doing that. That was a nice graphic on ESPN. I don't think that a two-seamer and a cutter are going to make Lidge into a new pitcher. The regular season certainly isn't a time to experiment. I'd like to see him work the fastball off the slider. He doesn't need more pitches to be a closer. He needs to throw his good stuff for strikes. Hell, Mariano Rivera has made a career out of basically one pitch at two speeds.
