barzilla, LaRon Landry is a great safety. However, if the Houston Texans have a chance to draft defensive tackle Alan Branch from Michigan, I think we need him more. He is a 6'6, 330 + pound defensive tackle who would look great playing next to Mario Williams, who is 6'7 and 300 pounds himself.

You always improve your defensive line because teams who generate a good pass-rush can get by with a weaker seconday. While on the flip-side, you can have the AFC's Pro Bowl Secondary ( for example ), and will still struggle if you're unable to generate a pass-rush.

There are 4 defensive lineman who could go in the top 10. Gaines Adams DE, Jamaal Anderson DE, Alan Branch DT, and Amobi Okoye DT. All 4 of them would be a sweet addition for the Houston Texans.

I know we have drafted defensive line in the 1st round for two drafts in a row, but Travis Johnson is more of a bust than an impact player, and we can't continue to succeed on defense with Jason Babin leading our team in sacks with 5 for an entire season like he did in 2006. Anthony Weaver is good to start at one of the DT positions, but we still need another good DT and another pass-rushing DE to compliment Mario Williams on the other side.

However, this draft is so deep at defensive line, we could likely find a steal in the 3rd or 4th round on a defensive lineman. And safeties are much harder to find, and this draft has 4 really good safeties, who could all be gone in the 1st round. So that is to be considered if we do draft defense in the 1st round.
