"Yes, it's a nicer picture but, IMO, it's not $1,000 nicer."

That is a philosophical question. As someone that wants an HD TV I can say that I can see more than one advantage. I have a Sony that is considered the heaviest television still in use today. The newer televisions can hang on the wall and thus take up a lot less space. All this being said I will get back to my philosophical point: the above statement depends greatly on your priorities. I would say that almost everyone has something they spend money on that someone would call wasteful. I enjoy the occasional cigar and premium beer. People might laugh at me for buying a two dollar cigar and two dollar beer (actually eight dollars a six pack at Spec's). Some people simply had to have the I-Phone when it first came out. My wife and I know we can wait a year or two and get the HD TV when it becomes much more affordable. Some people want the best right now. Who am I to judge?
