It's true that some players have trouble playing 1st base. I was always surprised that Caminiti had so much trouble playing 1st base when he was with the Braves in his last season. But I doubt that Lee would have any difficulty at first base; actually he seems kind of nimble for a big guy in small spaces. Prince Fielder and Ryan Howard are examples of two big guys who are terrible defensive first baseman....I would bet that Lee could outplay them at 1st. The main thing is that a bad fielding first baseman doesn't hurt you as much as a bad fielding LFer (unless they absolutely can't play the position).
