Baseball is a game of streaks, my friends. Apart from injury, which throws this whole discussion thread out of the "maybe" and into the "OK, what do we do now?" category, I still think this squad has the makings of one that will compete all summer long and play meaningful games in September - which is a marked improvement over last year.

This pitching staff is not as bad as the national press think, and there will be plenty of days when the Cubs and Brewers have bad calls go against them. I was hoping for a 3-4 trip, and they would have had that but for a few bad breaks. Those breaks inevitably swing back the other way so hang in there after only week 1.

George Brett mentioned one time that every team will win 50 and lose 50, but it's what you do in the other 62 that make the difference. Wiser words were never spoken when projecting out the season (or overcoming some bad luck during the first week). I'm excited about the Home Opener today and the games this week. I can't go until Sunday, but will be there with bells on hoping to put a successful finish on the early home stand.
