The problems are Cecil Cooper and Dewey Robinson. Too many stories link a highly volitale clubhouse and a total lack of respect for Dewey in particular. A sweep by the Rays (Hunsicker's Rays I might add) and the coaching staff would definately have some re-tooling done. I'd definately be surprised if they didn't. This is pathetic though, really. The Orioles are a .500 team at best and we should taken 2 out of 3. We should've taken 2 out of 3 from the Yankees also. If the Astros were led correctly and chemistry was in place, I'd expect nothing less than a sweep against the Rays, a sweep of the Rangers and a competetive series vs. the BoSox. With the current leadership in place I expect them to go 1-8 over the next 9, possibly leading us to a horrendus year coming up, potentially losing 100 games.

This can turn around though. I believe it is going to take some sort of spark (i.e. look back at fight in June 1989 vs. Expos, Beltran trade of 2004, Randy Johnson trade of 1998). The only thing I can think of is to see if SD is willing to part with Peavy (Oswalt's best bud) and offer up Wigginton, Wesley Wright, and maybe a few other "W's" because we sure ain't getting any in the W/L column.

That leads me to something of a nostalgic nature... I was just thinking, what was the most shocking headline about the Astros you've ever seen in the paper? I'd have to say mine was "Larry Dierker Named Manager". That made my jaw drop. Another was "Ryan Signs With Rangers". I believe that happened a day after by birthday and I actually had to go outside and shed a tear b/c I thought our chances were pretty good in '89.
