Great point Bob. I hate the fact that people don't assume a learning curve. After all, he did go to San Diego and work with Kevin Towers. Maybe he learned something about constructing a bullpen from Towers. The list of guys that make it the second go around is even bigger than that. Pat Gillick in Seattle and Philadelphia is another. John Schurholz following Kansas City in Atlanta. Bob Watson did better in NY than in Houston. I'd like to see Paul LePodesta get another shot based on this alone. Now, if Wade were foaming at the mouth or busting out the Cam Bonifay Judge Judy mouth open look then it'd be a different story. As far as I could tell, he did some smart things and some dumb things. Look at this current group and you could say the same thing. I'd sure he'd love to have the Oscar Villareal contract back and he has the marks on his neck to prove his mistake with Chacon. However, I'd say he built a much deeper bench than Purpura or Hunsicker ever did and the bullpen was a lot better than the 2007 group.
