RyanED, in order to get draft choices, the Astros have to offer Brocail arbitration and he has to reject arbitration and sign elsewhere. If he is a Type A FA, which seems likely, the Astros get the 1st round pick of the team which signs him, plus a 2d round pick. My guess is that Brocail would accept arbitration, but I certainly could be wrong. If he will, indeed, be a Type A Free Agent, it will reduce his marketability and earnings power as free agent considerably. Teams are smarter about weighing the potential loss of draft choices these days, and it's tough to lose your 1st round pick for a 42 year old relief pitcher.
