Ryan Dempster, who predicted a World Series title for the Cubs back in spring training, didn't get his team off to a good start in this postseason.

Ryan Dempster also made another guarantee after the Game 1 loss...

"I feel terrible," Dempster said. "I feel like I let the team down. But we're going to win [Thursday]. You don't have to win five games. You only have to win three. And we'll win this one [Thursday]."

ESPN - Despite loss in opener, Cubs remain optimistic - MLB

The Chicago players seemed optimistic they can still win this series during some of their comments I was reading on ESPN.com, but that's a bunch of BS really. I remember when the Houston players also seemed confident they could still defeat Atlanta after being down 0-2 back in their 2001 NLDS matchup, and they ended up getting swept 0-3.

Just like the Cubs this year, the 2001 Astros also had the National League's best record and homefield advantage throughout the entire National League playoffs but that didn't really make one inch of difference.

Being confident and optimistic is nice, but the games are still won and lost on the field.

The Cubs have Big-Z pitching Game 2 tonight, big whoop... He hasn't pitched worth a crap since his no-hitter against the Astros played in that dump called Miller Park, which was a game I didn't get to see because I had no electricity.

Even if the Cubs tie the series at 1 game apiece, the Dodgers have the homefield advantage and have guaranteed this series being a low-scoring series ( at least on the Cubs part ), because it's awfully difficult to score a lot of runs in their ballpark.

Heck, even Brandon Backe would look like a cy young award candidate if he pitched a game at Dodger Stadium.
