True, the Lidge, Dotel, Wagner bullpen was pretty impressive. However, I would say that we got contributions from six or seven guys beyond the mop up. As far as the guy's response, if he had responded that way the first time it would have been a legitimate argument, but not one I'd agree with. Ultimately, you are paid on how many guys hit it in the big leagues. Anyone that collected baseball cards in the 1980s remembers the name Gregg Jefferies. He went on to have a decent career with the Mets, Cards, and Tigers. Yet, when he was in the Mets minor league system he was supposed to be the second coming of Rogers Hornsby. I respect Baseball America, John Sickels, and the like, but they are nothing more than bondsman betting on futures. Give me five all-stars from a six or seven year period and I will deliver you a playoff birth. It shouldn't matter that they were only players.
