Since I enjoy history I lean toward sports movies that are actually fact based and very few of them are with the exception of Eight Men Out. This is an outstanding movie and the acting is excellent.
As for pure entertainment I've always enjoyed The Bingo Long Traveling All-Stars and Motor Kings. It's about the perils and lives of black ballplayers back in the days when blacks were not allowed in the Major Leagues when they played in their own organized black baseball league.

A huge thumbs down to Field of Dreams. Anyone who takes the time, money and effort to make a movie like this and then has Joe Jackson batting righthanded needs to have his head examined. Plus it's eat up with New Age ideology cloaked as a baseball movie.

As for movies in general, a few of my all-times are, Treasure of Sierra Madre, The Usual Suspects, Glenngarry Glenross, The Maltese Falcon, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valence (Wayne's best in my opinion), The Raging Bull, The Godfather.....etc.

Oh..and one more thing here. Any of you younger fans who want to see what old Buff Stadium looked like in its' heyday, watch The Monty Stratton Story. Most of the second unit director outdoor stadium shots in the movie were filmed at old Buff Stadium.
