Clack, but those declining numbers hitting right-handed extend from last season ( August of 2008 ). Not just his poor 2008 September overall, but I think this has gone on for almost a full year. I'm not sure what to make of this other than perhaps he is aging and on the decline but 33 years old should be in the prime of your career. Didn't Barry Bonds only get better from 33 years old to 40 years old? And he crushed left-handed pitching as a left-handed hitter.

Oh right, it was all performance-enhancing drugs then?

It should be interesting to see if Berkman can turn things around with his right-handed swing in 2009, because right now I have no confidence at all in his swings from that side of the plate, but hopefully he does.

Since last September when Berkman hit .171 and an OPS of .632 during 76 at-bats during that month, he hasn't hit well since, until recently of course - left-handed hitting that is, but his right-handed swing never came back.

We shall see what happens but I'm hoping we face nothing but right-handed starting pitchers the rest of this year. If the Astros are to win the 2009 NL Central... We'll need Lance Berkman to hit like he hit yesterday - two home runs, four RBIs and he displayed a great left-handed swing, MVP-esque type production.

Not anymore 0-for-the-game disappointments which seems to be the norm when he hits right-handed this year. All I can do is cheer Berkman on, but right now it's a night-and-day difference when it comes to his switch-hitting.
