My guess is that Berkman's overall OPS from both sides slumped in the second half of 08, and that it continued into the first two months of this year. Berkman's overall OPS gradually began an upward improvement beginning last month.. As an educated guess, I would suggest that it takes longer for his OPS to improve from the LH side because his at bats are so sporadic from thtat side.
Clack, it's just that I expect monster numbers from Berkman that are close to what Albert Pujols is doing with the Cardinals. Lately, we're starting to see the real Berkman smashing everything in sight ( left-handed swing ) but we need to see that happen the rest of this season on a consistent basis, and we also need to see a lot more production out of him from the right side.

Berkman hitting like an MVP caliber player; That's the only way the 2009 Houston Astros are going to win the NL Central because scoring three runs or less during twenty-one home games isn't going to get it down. The Astros usually win when they score four runs or more at home, and thanks to Berkman's two home runs and four RBI's yesterday, they avoided another three-run or less game, not to mention another home loss.

When you watch a Cardinals game, I don't see much more talent than what the Astros currently have. In fact, I may even suggest the Astros have a better team when compared to St. Louis. The only difference is Albert Pujols is a monster and a legitimate MVP candidate. While our big gun - Lance Berkman - isn't quite having that type of season for some reason.

Lance Berkman should be producing special numbers, the type Albert Pujols has right now.
