This team scored 7+ runs per game against atlanta (while getting the same lousy production from the pen). It has scored 5.5 runs per game in the two games against the cards. This isn't about the offense. This is about the starters not going long enough (Backe agreed that Garner pulled him at the right time and that he was gassed), Garner pulling them short (like he did with Munro, a move I personally didn't object to as the cards had solved Munro), and the pen (aside from Lidge) having an ERA over 10 in nearly 20 innings pitched. They have given up runs consistently, and it's not just a few pitchers.
