I haven't done my own calculations on the projections because I suspect it will be similar to yahkeeptalkin. I have also been delayed in picking up my copy of Diamond Dollars. The implication is pretty simple: adding a ton in salary makes very little sense right now. However, I will give credit to Bob for raising this point first, but at what point do we start losing (or is it loosing) credibility? With the change in leagues, a team of equal quality to 2011 or 2012 might win only 50 games. Might a modest investment in two or three players get them to 60-65 victories and thus be seen as making progress? I just think another 105+ loss season will spiral this fan base into full on apathy.
