I don't have a problem with *selective* shifting for guys (mostly lefty hitters) who pull the ball most of the time. It's the indiscriminate shifting, particularly against guys who aren't worth the trouble, that I object to. A few well-timed shifts against certain guys makes sense, particularly if they refuse to bunt or go the opposite way. It's this extreme shifting against guys with .310 OBPs that makes no sense.
