Proark, you're missing the whole point of being "brilliant" and that is to never get blamed for failing.

First, you blame your predecessor for everything that is wrong even though your steps to make the situation better only made the situation worse. You patiently explain how your superior intellect makes it so that bad news is somehow treated as good news and miniscule signs of improvement are trumpeted while gaffes and failures are glossed over. You rely on an unquestioning and sympathetic media to make everything seem far better than the true numbers that are produced and if anyone does raise a voice of disapproval, your response is to claim the uneducated boob simply lacks the intelligence to understand the nuances of what you are doing and the clearly brilliant way you are doing them.

Of course, I'm talking about our current administration in Washington but the Astros' front office operates the same way. Argue the W-L record or the team ERA or the team batting average and you will get a recital about FIPS and BABIPS and defensive shifting and WARs and defensive metrics and how great the farm system is while ignoring that the parent ballclub too often can't pitch, can't hit, can't attract a crowd and doesn't win. Anyone notice how our "much improved" offense has cracked out exactly ten hits total in the last three games? Yet we hear about what a great job Mallee is doing...
