As per usual, whether it be Washington or Houston, the truth is usually somewhere in between. Whether it be politics or baseball, you are talking part art and part science. Current administrations usually challenge the previous ones on both counts. What we've found is that the Wade regime wasn't as bad as previously thought, but almost all new regimes don't want to adopt any methods from the previous regime. Postolos confirmed as much when I talked to him before the sale was finalized. Like most GMs, Luhnow has done some very good things and some very questionable things. The problem for all involved is that it is very difficult to be objective during the regime's tenure. People find themselves either for or against. I'm for new methodologies and rigorous analysis, but the difference is that Luhnow is not the only gig in town so to speak. Most teams use analysis and new methodologies. If the new ownership group wants that, there are plenty of guys (and Kim Ng) that will do it. So, you don't have to abandon that aspect of it to hold the current administration accountable. As for Luhnow, I think he gets at least one more year to make it happen. I'd surmise that if they aren't in contention by 2016 he should be on the uber hot seat.
