Aiken had 111ks in 59.2 innings pitched in his senior year of HS. Thats a rate of 16.875 per 9 innings. He also only gave up 15 walks and 27 hits. A left handed dominate starting pitcher with that stuff was not a gamble. The gamble was how young he was. That is what bit us in the face. That is the mistake. However to act like the astros reached when they picked Aiken first is not at all what the media said at the time. Sports illustrated claimed we would win the 2017 world series with Aiken as the starting pitcher. The kid had amazing stuff. Now its very unfortunate that this happened however I can't imagine you can say honestly that the astros should have been able to predict a fluke arm problem that had never surfaced before. I am going to wait for the next draft before I grab my pitch forks.
