I have no issue at all with Correa but again, Correa could have easily been a miss with Buxton being the guy the Astros could have gotten. They played the game they play of drafting for talent AND quantity and they managed it perfectly in 2012. They got Correa and two others that probably would have slipped through their fingers had they taken Buxton and not been able to have the money available. They get all the credit in the world for playing that draft perfectly. That said, you cannot give them the credit in 2012 and then not hold them accountable when they try the same thing in 2013 and ESPECIALLY in 2014 and not have it work out.

You could say that 2013 was not the same but I would argue that most people would have gone for Bryant and since he was drafted #2 and signed for more money than Appel I think it is close to being a lock that the Astros went with the guy they thought would give them the best value and not necessarily the best player overall. In 2014 they also offered the #1 overall pick less money than Rodon signed for, which, when combined with the Nix and Marshall picks shows that they were clearly going after the guy that they thought would allow them to get the most bang for their buck and not the best player.
