I'm being kind about this, but I do think the tv situation kept them in limbo and - if they're smart - they'll keep a below market payroll for a few more years. Correa, Appel et al are not going to win the pennant the first year they arrive. They'll reach their peak around ages 27-30 like most other players and they can probably count on some good supporting players already in the system when that time arrives but if you haven't figured out that there are no baseball dynasties anymore, you're not been paying attention. It's not the Dodgers and Yankees winning titles lately. You can spend to make the playoffs but you can't spend to win the Series. Unless you spend 10 times more than we're spending, you can't corner the market on enough good hitters and good pitchers to guarantee a title.
