For those interested in the official forum fantasy league, all has been quiet on the trade front, until yesterday.

My team, the Ovaries, is more of a hospital zone than a baseball team with 5 players currently/still on the DL. I got Hunter Pence back for a couple of weeks but he's on the shelf again. My LF, Joey Butler, qualifies for RF and I used him to cover for Pence but then the guy I had to take Butler's spot in LF, Delino DeShields hit the DL, and left me with an empty position in either RF or LF. My options were to either get a scrub off the FA pile, which means I would have to cut someone loose since we only have 2 DL spots available, or try to make a trade.

I pulled up everyone's rosters to see if I could find something to start with. Let me 1st say that Carlos Correa was not available in our league until he was brought up to the Majors. And then he went on the waiver wire where he was picked up by the team with the #1 waiver priority. I happened to be #11 at the time. I was in negotiations with this team, Roy O's Wizards, about acquiring just the waiver pick. This was right before Correa was called up. This had nothing to do with RF at the time as I had Pence back. Roy O's knew I wanted the pick for Correa and said he was going to use his waiver claim on Correa. We eventually decided to put negotiations on the back burner to see how it all shook out, but I was still interested in making a deal for Correa.

Meanwhile, Pence goes back on the shelf, and my backup goes down as well. All of a sudden I'm only able to fill 8 of the 9 offensive positions we have. As I said, I either had to pick up a FA, meaning I'd have to drop a player as well, or try to find a trade partner.

The team I was already in negotiations with about Correa, also had Stephen Vogt, who I had interest in as I have him as C in another league. He qualifies in RF in our league, so I got a little more interested in him since he was on the team I was already talking with. So those talks heated up again with my interest now in Correa and Vogt.

Just in case, Barzilla's team, Jobu's Rum, had plenty of RFs and looked like he could use some help at 1B, where I had Teixeira, a guy I just couldn't get in the lineup because I have Miggy at 1B. And even though Miggy qualifies at 3B too, I have Donaldson there. So Tex was hitting all these HRs just sitting on my bench.

As a result of these negotiations, both ended in trades being agreed upon and here's what went down:

1st trade:
Ovaries (me) send Mark Teixeira and Matt Wieters to Barzilla for Nelson Cruz and Nick Hundley.

I get my RF, who also qualifies for LF if/when Pence comes back, but I take a hit at catcher, at least IMO. So now I'm looking at Vogt more at C than RF. Roy O's was adamant about getting a quality starter, and we were both probably valuing Correa a little higher than we probably should have been. I've also got a crap load of pitching, BUT, I'm counting on a couple of guys coming back from TJ in Matt Moore and Jose Fernandez.

2nd trade:
Overies send Matt Harvey and Joc Pederson to Roy O's Wizards for Carlos Correa and Stephen Vogt.

That seems like the riskier move by me as I'm counting on a lot of unknowns in Correa, Fernandez and Moore.

So here's a snapshot of what my team looks like before and after. Orange are the guys I traded, Blue are who I got back in return, Red are on the DL.

And for those in the league that are interested, Ian Desmond is available.

I started out with nothing...and I still have most of it.
