It's the halfway point, so I thought I do a where are they now of my roster (ie why I'm running ninth) and others may follow if they so choose.

Catcher: Devin Mesoraco, Jason Castro

Mesoraco gave me approximately 50 non-quality plate appearances before he went down for the season with a hip infringement (or something like that). Jason Castro actually has spent the entire season on the roster and got some playing time here and there when Mesoraco went down. I later added Nick Hundley and he got the bulk of the playing time until I added Matt Wieters in my trade with Speedy. Unfortunately, he's being platooned with Caleb Joseph. So, I decide between .280 with some power half the time or .220 with some power all the time. Fuck you Devin Mesoraco.

First Base: Justin Morneau, Adam Laroche

The idea here was for Morneau to turn in one of those .300/20/80/90 kind of seasons in the thin air of Colorado. Like just about everyone else on my hitting lineup, he went on the disabled list with sand in the vagina (or something like that) and hasn't played in two months. Adam Laroche turned back into a pumpkin and was dropped several weeks ago. There was my blue period when Joe Mauer was patrolling first and hitting the occasional single, but I woke up and went back to the waiver wire. For awhile, Adam Lind became the guy and he's been decent, but not spectacular. Fortunately, Speedy came to the rescue and gave me Mark Teixeira in the Nelson Cruz trade. I dropped Laroche because who knows how long he's going to be out and Adam Lind is good enough insurance for now.

Second Base: Brian Dozier

He's the best player I've drafted that I still own. He leads all second sackers in homers and is on pace to steal 15 bases as well. He should hit 40+ doubles as well.

Third Base: Anthony Rendon, Aramis Ramirez

I knew Rendon would begin the season on the DL, but I thought he would be back by May and I was willing to accept five months of production from him. Instead I've gotten five minutes Ramirez sucked from day one, so I dumped him and added a pidgepodge of characters. Yunel Escobar is still on my roster and I recently added Trevor Plouffe. I think I've been hit pretty hard by the injury bug if you can't tell.

Shortstoo: Ben Zobrist, Jed Lowrie

Did I mention that I've had an injury problem? Zobrist has come back and has started to hit some. Rumors are running rampant that he will be dealt, but if the A's keep winning they will likely keep everything intact and go for the wild card. I dumped Lowrie when he went down for his 8-10 weeks because they only give you two DL slots and as you can see, I've already used them up constantly. I've added Andrelton Simmons as insurance (Escobar is also SS eligible), but I've never really needed him. I'm holding him like a discard in jin rummy. As soon as one of my DL guys actually comes off I can cut him to make room.

Outfield: Michael Brantley, Corey Dickerson, Nelson Cruz, Carlos Beltran, Austin Jackson

Michael Brantley hasn't been the same guy he was last year, but he's hitting around .300 and he's been very healthy. That makes him an MVP candidate on Jobu's Rum. Corey Dickerson has been like just about everyone else. He's productive when healthy, but he's on his second DL stint. I tried to include him in my trade with Speedy just because he's languishing on my bench (no more DL slots). I loved Nelson Cruz since I drafted him, but when I was able to fill a hole at first and behind the plate I couldn't pass it up. Both Beltran and Jackson are long gone as I've brought in the likes of Andre Ethier, Avisail Garcia, and Colby Rasmus to replace them. Either Rasmus or Garcia are expendable once Dickerson is healthy again.

Starting Pitchers: Clayton Kershaw, Cole Hamels, Jeff Samardzija, Collin McHugh, Jered Weaver, Chris Tillman

The last three guys were cut at some point or another. I cut McHugh when he had that two or three start negative stretch and regret it now. Adding Ubaldo Jimenez and Wandy Rodriguez were quality moves so far as they have really only one bad start between them. I also added Jesse Chavez as well with some success. Samardzija and Kershaw have been disappointments for the most part. Kershaw always has a ton of Ks, but he seems to surrender a tater at least once a game for some reason and he's lost three in a row. Samardzija just has a bad defense behind him. Unfortunately, FIP isn't a fantasy category.

Relief Pitchers: Andrew Miller, Luke Gregerson, Joaquin Benoit, Huston Street, Kelvim Herrera

The bullpen has been the most stable part of my team. All of these guys are still on team although Miller is on the DL. Miller, Gregerson, and Street have been effective closers while Herrera and Benoit are both holds guys. That was a fortunate turn of events when the Padres added Kimbrel before the season. In most leagues, I would be pissed, but before that deal, Herrera was really my only holds guy. If Miller can get back then my bullpen is back in awesome territory.
