SPINNERS

Folks in our little fantasy baseball league have got to be getting a little tired of seeing these 2 teams in the championship game. It's the 2nd consecutive World Series appearance and 7th in the last 8 years for the defending and 5 time champion Spinners. This will be the 6th World Series appearance for my Ovaries in the last 8 years. So if it's not bad enough seeing at least one of these teams in the title game, imagine when they're both there.

This will be the 5th time in our 14 year history, 5th time in the last 8 years, that Spinners and Ovaries have played each other in our World Series. As mentioned, the Spinners are 5 time champions so it hasn't gone well for Ovaries in these matchups. In fact, the Ovaries one championship came in 2011 (AFFL X) with an 8-3 win over Spinners.

Spinners (1) and Ovaries (2) were the top 2 teams in the regular season standings and it's the 2nd time they meet for the title as the top 2 seeds. The last time was 2011, the Ovaries one championship. The O's were #1 that season while Spinners were #2.

Both teams struggled to get to this game. The Spinners never led in their Final Four matchup against Lefty's Pfloogies. And for what it's worth, Spinners still do not lead in that game. The Spinners trailed at the end of every single day of the week except Sunday. They end in a 5-5 tie and unfortunately for Lefty, the tie-breaker goes to the Spinners based on head-to-head aggregate score against each other in the regular season (15-8 Spinners).

My game against rdkapp's Drayton's Chumps went down to damn near the very last pitch of the very last game of the week (Cubs/Pirates). Much like the Spinners, my team trailed most of the week but I tied things up at the end of Friday's games. Drayton's Chumps owned the tie-breaker over me so I had to win outright to advance. By the time the Cubs/Pirates game started, our score was 6-6, advantage rdkapp. I was trailing 78-70 in the K category with Jake Arrieta going for the Cubbies. Arrieta proceeds to strikeout 9, I flip that category 79-78, to take a 7-5 lead. It wasn't over though. I had a 4-3 lead in steals and he still had Andrew McCutchen playing. Now Cutch only has 10 steals this season, but all he needed was 1 to tie me and advance to the title game. Sterling Marte made the final out with Cutch on deck.

On a side note, Cruz Control and Purple Haze will battle each other this week in our NIT title game (consolation bracket) for the rights to the #1 pick in the 2016 draft.

I started out with nothing...and I still have most of it.
