It's a good thing... stability is good.

It's think hard to judge Garner's value to the team. I don't think any other manager would have gotten any more out of this team than he did. If he had had a little more pitching in 2004 he would have had the Astros in the WS. Little more hitting in 2005 he could have won the WS. Hard to argue with those results I think... he can't swing the bat for the hitters.

From what I gather the players really like him too because he has faith in them, that is invaluable.

I do agree that the way he used Willy T, like constantly trying to have him bunt runners over to 2nd, and wasting outs, was annoying as hell, but he was trying to make things happen.
