While Everett may not have too much upside as a hitter, he can learn more patience at the plate and to stop swinging at balls out of the strike zone, and thus, taking more walks as a result, thereby improving the offense in other ways.

It seems that even if the Astros don't see Burke as their SS, even on a short term basis, it may benefit Everett, Burke, and the Astros to give him some time at SS in winter ball and spring training, just to see what he can and cannot do. If anything, it may be the tonic needed to push Everett to newer heights as a hitter. Personally, I don't see a downside to at least trying.
