Giles seems like the kind of veteran player who the Cardinals would like. While it is true that Giles is past his prime, I don't think comparing his HRs to Adam Everett's HRs does him justice. Giles had an OPS of .906 in 2005, which is fairly comparable to the OPS of Ensberg and Berkman. Moreover, Giles' diminished home runs totals have to be affected by Petco Park which just kills sluggers. Giles' OPS on the road is 1.006, which is most due to much better slugging numbers away from Petco. I think Giles would hit more HRs in MMP and probably would achieve OPS numbers equal to higher than Berkman in Houston.
